* Play a race with strong economy, like Humans on a water map, and build grand palaces everywhere. * Play a Draconian Sorcerer for even more magic mayhem. Be sure to turn on "random heroes match player race" for max benefit, though.) * Play a Draconian and get bonus caster points much earlier. High-level racial governance only comes into play at the end of the game when you're pretty much won anyway, But even if you do want great governance skills and a lot of casting points, there are plenty of other options: why not just shake it up and pick a different race regardless? In the meantime I'm going to try and record some of what I learn as I go.But if you get sick of playing Elves all the time. I don't know if there's a modding wiki for AoW3 out there yet, and I have no idea how to set one up myself, but if there is indexing this list should be one of its chief goals. It's also pretty clear these packs were added in layers with each of the expansions. Some of these packs contain a huge amount of varied data about different systems, while others seem to just describe a single unit. Yeah, it's pretty daunting, and it doesn't seem organized according to any consistent system. TC (Directory) - Seems to contain various types of terrain data used in tactical combat. PFX (Directory) - Seems to contain exclusively particle effect files. To that end, I've ripped a list of every pack in the game's files:Īnims (Directory) - Seems to contain exclusively animation files for unit models. It became quickly apparent that for AoW3 to have any modding scene, there's going to have to be an index of its resource packs so people can find things without reading through all of the game's data. So, in another post I talked about doing a terraforming quality-of-life mod, and once I began working on it I ran into the immediate problem of not having any idea where in the game's resource packs information about various game elements was stored.
